Assistant Principal (1.0)
New Heights School & Learning Services runs a unique specialized program tailored to neurodivergent students with autism spectrum disorder, or with similar learning differences. New Heights is a play-based program that utilizes the strengths and interests of each student to address developmental goals while teaching the Alberta Program of Studies. We are currently looking for an Assistant Principal (1.0) to join our leadership team.
Key Responsibilities, working alongside the Principal:
- Inspire and lead a collaborative school culture that prioritizes a safe, welcoming, and positive school environment.
- Foster strong relationships with students, staff, families, and the greater community.
- Serve as a visible and positive ambassador for the school.
- Create a safe learning environment that sets learning goals both for students and teachers.
- Support program planning, team collaboration, and professional growth among staff.
Preferred Qualifications and Attributes:
- A Master’s Degree and LQS certification.
- Previous experience as a vice/assistant–principal
- Experience working with neurodivergent children/youth/young adults.
- Extensive knowledge of independent school administrative processes and provincial legislation, regulations, and policies.
- The ability to be self-directed, flexible, highly motivated and to collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- The ability to use strength-based problem-solving skills with innovative and collaborative approaches.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Be warm, approachable, and committed to creating a safe, caring school environment.
- Have knowledge of Alberta Curriculum and individualized programming.
- Have strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Additional Requirements:
- Current First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
- Successful candidates must complete a criminal record/vulnerable sector check before employment.
